Where did this come from?

Listener feedback and creator insights revealed a gap in engagement—while podcasts are inherently interactive, audience participation was limited to passive listening or external social media discussions.

We identified a need for a seamless in-app mechanism that allows listeners to express opinions and creators to gather real-time feedback.

My role

I led the user experience strategy, balancing creator needs with listener behaviors.

I worked on research, user flows, interface design, and feature rollout, ensuring an intuitive, engaging, and seamless interaction across the app.

30% of exclusive shows adopted polls
8% increase in listener engagement in episodes with polls
Higher creator retention, as polls drive deeper interactions with their audience

Our hypothesis

We believe this will foster a deeper connection between podcasters and their audience, generate insightful data for creators, and improve overall user retention on the platform.

How did we get there?

Discovery & Research:

I mapped critical user journeys and ran a competitive analysis to define table stakes and spot opportunities for differentiation.

2. Design & Iteration

I crafted a two-phase strategy (episode-based → show-based) to ensure a seamless experience. Designed minimal interactions from the episode page and player, gradually expanding Polls.
3. Launch & Adoption Strategy

I partnered with local markets and the creator squad to launch Polls with five shows based on content, engagement, and creator support—driving initial adoption.
